How does area-based location sharing work?

When you create or join a group, the group has defined geographic areas (circles on the map). You're only visible to other group members when you're inside one of those areas. Step outside, and you disappear from the map.

Can I stop sharing my location?

Yes, at any time. Toggle the visibility switch in the app to go invisible immediately. You can also revoke location permissions in your device's Settings.

Does PositionGuard track me when I'm not using the app?

Only if you've enabled visibility. When visible, the app updates your position in the background as needed to keep group members' maps current — more frequently when you're moving or near an area boundary, less frequently when you're stationary. This is designed to minimize battery impact. Turn off visibility and all tracking stops.

How do I invite someone to my group?

Go to your group, tap "Invite," and enter their phone number or pick from your contacts. They'll receive an invitation and can choose to accept or decline.

What's a privacy area?

A privacy area is a zone you define where your location is never shared with anyone, regardless of group settings. Use it for places like your home or workplace.

Does PositionGuard drain my battery?

We've optimized background updates to minimize battery impact. The app adapts how often it sends updates based on whether you're moving, stationary, or near an area boundary, and uses efficient push-based syncing rather than continuous GPS polling.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account directly from within the app: go to Settings and select Delete Account. This will permanently remove your account, location history, group memberships, and personal information. If you're unable to access the app, contact [email protected] and we'll process the deletion for you.
